Fluid Removal for Mesothelioma
In some cases fluid collects in the chest or abdomen and the doctor may drain this fluid out of the body by putting a needle into the chest or abdomen and using a gentle suction. Removal of fluid from the chest is called thoracentesis. Removal of fluid from the abdomen is called paracentesis. The doctor may also put drugs through a tube into the chest to prevent more fluid from accumulating.
