Mesothelioma Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy-the use of drugs to kill mesothelioma cancer cells-may be administered orally or it may be put into the body by a needle or IV drips in the vein or muscle. Chemotherapy is known as a systemic treatment because the drug enters the bloodstream, travels through the body, and can kill mesothelioma cancer cells throughout the body. When treating mesothelioma, doctors may put chemotherapy directly into the chest (intrapleural chemotherapy).
